Yvonne Powley - Manager
Yvonne joined ANCAD in May 2009. Through ANCAD Yvonne became the contracted manager for NSBS in June 2017. She has a BSocSc. and a thesis to complete – MSocSc. and Dip.Com.Psych. (University of Waikato). In 2006, Yvonne set up her own business Pacific Research & Development, working for three years on various projects in the Pacific. She undertook a disaster assessment mission in the Solomon Islands after a tsunami and earthquake; worked with the Caritas Office of Justice and Peace in PNG; made a risk analysis for Oxfam of going into West Papua, and worked on a UNICEF project looking at the preparation for Avian Influenza in Samoa. Yvonne is a Board member of RedRNZ and EWPANZ.
Yvonne has held numerous management positions including General Manager of Auckland New Ventures from 1994 – 2001. Since moving to the North Shore, Yvonne became the Director of Northcote College Community English School and Campus Manager of Sir George Seymour National College of Travel and Tourism. Yvonne is a member of the Institute of Directors and Governance New Zealand.
Abid Ali Al-Atafi – Senior Financial Mentor
Abid started working for the North Shore Budget Service Inc. in 1996 (21 years). He is a professional certified budget adviser and calculates he has had close to 5,000 sessions with clients over the years. Abid has a PhD in Microbial Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the United Kingdom.
He has had three years’ experience in a New Zealand university in a Research Fellowship role. Abid has published over thirty papers in different international journals and written five books in Arabic for university students.
Sue Deason – Financial Mentor
Sue Deason is a qualified Budget Advisor under the Federation of Family Budgeting Services, and has been qualified since 1997. She has worked in the Intensive Support Service of NSBS for 22 years.
Sue has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Auckland University, and a Post- graduate Diploma of the New Zealand Library School (gained in 1974). She has developed and improved all systems and processes currently used to maintain client plans and services. She has assisted with development of the customised applications of Excel software currently used to implement and record client data.
Lane Kennedy – Financial Mentor
Lane has worked for both corporate and government entities and co-owned an accounting practice for several years. She set up her own consultancy three years ago to offer compliance services to small business. She has been involved with a number of community organisations such as Women’s Refuge and her particular focus has been working within her local Labour party electorate committee to achieve the goal of another North Auckland list MP.
This job done, Lane is now looking forward to throwing her energies into the North Shore Budget Service Inc. She feels privileged to put her financial and life skills to good use within the service to improve the lives and wellbeing of Auckland North residents.
Susan Moyle – Financial Administration
Susan has a long involvement with non-profit organisations, in a wide range of both voluntary and paid roles. This includes past roles within North Shore Play Centre and Epilepsy New Zealand, and current volunteer roles with Air Training Corps No 6 (North Shore) Squadron and SPELD New Zealand. Susan has a degree in Accountancy and completed her degree with a project focusing on the new reporting requirements for the sector.
Her role with ANCAD allows her to combine a passion for the community sector with her enjoyment of working with finances. Susan started with NSBS in June 2017. Susan is married with three children aged young adult to teen and has lived on the North Shore for over twenty years.
